Reimagining Deep Ellum Service Center Station

In 2018, I was selected to participate in the second Urban Land Institute Dallas-Fort Worth's Center for Leadership program, designed to help future community leaders find solutions to responsible land-use and create sustainable, thriving communities.

The nine-month program consists of seven full-day sessions led by professionals in public and private sector roles in the Dallas region. Each class day includes presentations, panel discussion, property tours, small group activities and project analyses allowing class members insight into various market sectors and broadening their perspectives on current issues and opportunities that are relevant to the region.

I graduated from the ULI Dallas-Fort Worth Center for Leadership in 2019, and I continue to work with incoming classes on their small group project known as the Mini Technical Assistance Panel (mTAP).

The mTAP is modeled after the ULI TAP. Working in teams, Center for Leadership class members are responsible for sharing their expertise and recommendations with public agencies and nonprofit organizations on a variety of land use issues.

I assisted the Class of 2020 on their mTAP project, which analyzed the Deep Ellum Service Center Station in Dallas.

I worked alongside the Public Policy Team, guiding them as they reviewed the public policy needs, including housing considerations, interactions with the City of Dallas and opportunities for financial incentives, the environmental condition of the property, and zoning considerations.
